KERALA POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2014-2015

Online applications are invited for the Post‐Matric Scholarship for the academic year 2014‐15 from students belonging to minority communities (Muslim/ Christian/ Buddhists/ Sikh and Parsee) to be awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
Applications are to be submitted online in the Scholarship Website of Department of Collegiate Education, www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in. Instructions for filling up the online application can be accessed through the link Post‐Matric Scholarship provided in the Home Page of Scholarship website.
The details of the Scholarship are given below:
1.Rate of Scholarship:
An amount equivalent to Admission & Course/ Tuition Fee and Maintenance allowance, subjected to a maximum ceiling. Details are provided in Appendix-I.

2. Eligibility Conditions:
a. Should be the First Year student of
i. Plus Two/ UG/ PG/M.Phil/ Ph.D Course of Higher Secondary School/ College/ Institutes/ University, which is either a Govt/ Aided/Recognized Unaided Institution.
OR
ii. 11th Class/Technical/ Vocational Course of ITI/ITC Centres affiliated to NCVT.
OR
iii. Course, other than those listed under merit-cum-means scholarship scheme. The names of courses listed under Merit-cum-means scholarship are given in Appendix-II.
b. Should belong to Minority Community (Muslim/ Christian/ Buddhists/ Sikh/ Zoroastrians or Parsis).
c. Should have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous Board/ University Examination.
d. The Annual Family Income should not exceed Rs. 2 Lakhs.
e. Should not be availing any other Scholarship or Stipend
3. Other Relevant Information
a. Applicant must have savings bank account in their name either in one among the Nationalized, scheduled, commercial Banks which has IFSC code.
The candidate should be in possession of the Bank account Number and the Branch Code. Adhaar number is mandatory to all beneficiaries underthis scheme and the Adhaar number should be seeded with the Bank Account number.
4. Procedure for Applying. a. Application can be submitted only ONLINE at www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in.
b. Students are required to register themselves in this site before applying for this scholarship. The instructions for registration are provided in the Website

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences, engineering and medicine. It offers scholarship and contingency grants up to the pre-Ph.D. level to selected students. Started in 1999, it is administered by the Indian Institute of Science.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowships in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally and highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.

The objectives of the program are to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their potential in their studies; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.

The advertisement for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national dailies normally on the Technology Day (May 11) and the Second Sunday of July every year.
The selection of students is made from those studying in XI standard to 1st year in any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology having aptitude for scientific research. Special groups / committees are set up at IISc, to screen the applications and conduct an aptitude test at various centers in the country. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure. For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview marks are considered.

The merit list is based on 75% weightage for Aptitude Test marks and 25% weight age for the interview marks in the streams SA, SB and SX. SA can be written by students studying in class 11. SX can be written by students studying in class 12.
Selection Procedure:
1. Aptitude Test: After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will be called for a written aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 27th October 2013. The details of the venue of the aptitude test for the eligible students and their seat number will be published in the KVPY website during the first week of October 2013.
2. Interview: Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

ORDER:
Government of Andhra Pradesh have decided to sanction of Pre-matric Scholarship to curb the high dropout rate of 53.64% as per census 2011 of Department of School Education among S.T, students and encourage education at the secondary level there is need to give incentive in the form of scholarship in Andhra Pradesh by providing a modest incentive to school going ST children from classes V to VIII.
2. The scheme was reviewed and approved by the Nodal Agency in its meeting held by 2-12-2013 vide reference 2nd read above for inclusion under Tribes SubPlan 2013-14 and the State Council for development of SCs &STs has also ratified the recommendation of Nodal Agency for Tribal Sub Plan in the reference 3rd read above.
3. The following guidelines are issued for operation of the scheme.These guidelines will come into effect from the academic year 2013-14.
Pre-metric Scholarship shall be granted to all eligible ST students in classes V to VIII subject to the following conditions
Eligibility: For being eligible under this scheme, the student should:
i) Belongs to Scheduled Tribe and her/his Parent/Guardian’s Annual Income should not exceed Rs. 2.00 Lakhs.
ii) He/She should be a regular, full time student studying in a Government School or in a School run by Local Bodies such as Mandal Praja Parishad, Zilla Praja Parishad, Municipalities / Municipal Corporations or any school Aided by the Government.
iii) Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, she/he would not get scholarship for that class for a second (or subsequent) year
Scholarship Value:
1) Rs.100/- Per Month for Boy (Day Scholars) for 10 months.
2) Rs.150/- Per Month for Girls (Day Scholars) for 10 months.
Procedure: The same procedure being adopted for “Pre-Matric Scholarships Scheme for IX to X classes may be adopted for this scheme also

ORDER:
Government of Andhra Pradesh have decided to sanction Pre-Matric Scholarship in online (e-PASS)for students belonging to BC studying class 9 to 10 in Government Schools to curb the high dropout rate among Backward Classes children studying in Secondary Education level from the Academic Year 2013-14 and it is proposed to cover about 2.00 lakh students under this scheme subject to the following guidelines:-
2. The Scheme was included under Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme(DBT) and the Commissioner, BC Welfare has already submitted the Memorandum of Understanding to the Government in Social Welfare Department with NACH facilities.
3. The following guidelines are issued for operation of the scheme. These guidelines will come into effect from the academic year 2013-14 to sanction Pre-Matric Scholarships through online (e-PASS):
(1) Objtecive:
 To curb the high dropout rate among BC students in Andhra Pradesh by providing a modest incentive to school going BC children from classes IX and X and preference may be given to girls students first based on availability of budget.
(2) Eligibility
i) The student should belong to Backward Classes.
ii) His/her Parent/Guardian’s income should not exceed Rs. 44,500/- per annum.
iii) He/she should have an Aadhar card.
iv) He/She should be a regular, full time student studying in a Government School or in a School run by Local
Bodies such as Mandal Praja Parishad, Zilla Praja Parishad, Municipalities / Municipal Corporations or any school aided by the Government.
v) Scholarship shall be given to the student only once in any class. If a student has to repeat a class, he/she shall not get scholarship for that class for a second (or subsequent) year

Applications are invited for awarding scholarship for the year 2013-14 under “Swami Vivekananda West Bengal Government Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme” introduced for providing financial assistance tothe poor and meritorious students of West Bengal pursuing higher studies. The students of Post -Madhyamiklevels in regular courses who are domiciled in West Bengal and studying in one of the educational institutionsof this state after passing out from the State Board / Council of Secondary / Higher Secondary Education and Madrasah Siksha Parishad or a University of West Bengal, set up by State Act, whose annual family income is Rs. 80,000/- or less may apply for this scholarship provided their educational qualifications are as follows:-
1) For Scholarships at Higher Secondary level @ Rs.500/- p.m
Eligibility: At least 75% in aggregate in Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent as stated above excluding optional elective subject. Students who are enrolled in Class XI on passing Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent examination in 2013 will be eligible to apply.
2) For the Under Graduate level scholarships @ Rs.750/- to Rs.1500/- p.m
Eligibility: Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks, consisting of two language subjects and three best elective subjects. Students who are enrolled in the first year of Under Graduate Course after passing the H.S.Examination or its equivalent examination in 2013 will be eligible to apply.
3) For scholarships at Diploma (Polytechnic) level @750/- p.m
Eligibility: Students who are enrolled after passing-out in Secondary (M.P.) Examination or its equivalent as statedabove in 2013 for first year Diploma (Polytechnic) course [H.S. Examination or its equivalent for Diploma in Pharmacy or Modern office practice & Management of 2 year duration] and after passing -out in ‘West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education & Training’ courses which is equivalent to H.S. Examination for 2nd year Diploma (Polytechnic) courses on lateral entry basis will be eligible to apply. Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks in aggregate [excluding the marks secured in the optional elective subject, if any]
4) For the Post Graduate level scholarships @ Rs.1200/- to 1400/-
Eligibility: At least 55% marks in Honours subjects at the Graduation level. Students who are enrolled in the first year class of Post Graduate Course in general education after passing the Graduation with Honours in 2013 will be eligible to apply.
Applications can be made either electronically (through website) or manually this year for all the courses excepting medical education. In case of medical education applications should only be made manually and not electronically.

SCHEME OF ‘LIC GOLDEN JUBILEE SCHOLARSHIP’ FOR STUDENTS BELONGING TO THE ECONOMICALLY WEAKER FAMILIES FOR PURSUING HIGHER STUDIES.
1. OBJECTIVE
The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker families so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education and thus enhance their employability.
2. SCOPE
The scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India in a government or private college/university. It will also cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes at Graduation level.
3. ELIGIBILITY
Students who have passed Class XII exam or its equivalent in the Academic Year 2012-13 and are interested to pursue higher education in the field of
i) Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses.
ii) Vocational Courses through Government recognized Colleges/Institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI). For i) above Candidates who have passed Class XII exam or equivalent in the Academic year 2012-13 with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade and annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed 1,00,000/- per annum. For ii) above The basic educational qualification is relaxed to Class X or equivalent with at least 60% marks in the Academic year 2012-13 subject to income ceiling of parents/guardians.
4. DURATION
Scholarship shall be provided for the entire duration of the course subject to the candidate fulfilling the requisite eligibility conditions for renewal.
5. RATE OF SCHOLARSHIP
An amount of 10,000/- per annum will be awarded to the selected candidate which is payable in ten monthly installments of 1,000/- each. The Scholarship amount will be transferred to Bank Account of the selected scholar through NEFT. Therefore in case the candidate is selected for scholarship, the Bank Account details and IFSC code are compulsory.

Under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, the legal age of betrothal and marriage for girls is 18 years, and for boys is 21 years. In spite of several years of this Act being in existence, the early betrothal and marriage of children continues to be a norm in the West Bengal. According to the District Level Health Survey – 3, 2007‐08 (DLHS ‐3, 2007‐08), the state ranks fifth highest in the country when it comes to the prevalence of child marriage.
In view of the above, the Department of Women Development and Social Welfare, West Bengal (DWSW) formulated the Kanyashree Prakalpa – a conditional cash transfer scheme with the aim of improving the status and well being of the girl child in West Bengal by incentivizing schooling of all teenage girls and delaying their marriages until the age of 18, the legal age of marriage. Kanyashree Prakalpa is a West Bengal Government sponsored scheme which will be implemented henceforth in all districts of the state.
Kanyashri Prakalpa Eligibility Details
Eligibility: (i)Girl students of Class VIII to XII of the schools/ Madrasahs and not below age of 13 years as on 01.04.2013.
(ii)Annual income of the Family not exceeding Rs.1,20,000.
2. Annual Scholarship: Rs.500/- to a Girl student from age 13 years to 18 years & reading in Class VIII to XII.
3. One Time Grant: Rs. 25000/- to a Girl student of age 18 years above.
4. Mode of Payment: Through Any nationalized Bank Account.
5. Marital Status: Unmarried.
Through conditional benefits, Kanyashree Prakalpa (hereinafter referred to as ‘The Scheme’) aims to reduce the prevalence of child marriage in West Bengal by increasing the enrollment of girls in secondary education or vocational / sports training, and simultaneously encouraging the delay of marriages of girls until they reach the age of 18.
The specific objectives of the Scheme are to:
a. Incentivize through scholarships, the continuation of education of the girl child in Secondary and Higher Secondary classes , vocational training or sports training. To reduce drop outs, especially amongst girls from poor families, who are not covered by any other scholarship
b. Dis‐incentivise child marriage of girls to ensure compliance with the legal provisions pertaining to the minimum age at marriage.

Maulana Azad Education Foundation was established on the occasion of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth centenary. The Foundation was registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, on 6th July, 1989. OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHEME
To recognize, promote and assist meritorious Girl students belonging to National Minorities who can not continue their education without financial support
PURPOSE OF SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship will be admissible for expenditure on payment of School/College Fee, purchase of syllabus books, purchase of stationery/equipments required for the course & payment of Boarding/Lodging charges.
Application Form
Application can be downloaded from the web site www.maef.nic.inPhotocopy of the application form can be used freely. No fee/any other amount is to be paid for application. Application form can be sent by the student directly to the Foundation by post or can be submitted by hand from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.on all working days in the office of the Foundation. Sanction letter/cheque for scholarship will sent by Regd. Post directly to the address of successful candidate on completion of prescribed papers/formalities
ELIGIBILITY CRITERION / WHO CAN APPLY
Only Girl Students belonging to National Minorities, (i.e. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs, Parsis) can apply. Should have secured not less than 55% marks (in aggregate) in the secondary school certificate examination (Class xth) conducted by any recognized Centre/State Board of Secondary Education. Family income of the student from all sources should be less than Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only) in the preceding financial year:
Last Date to Apply
The last date for receipt of application in the office of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation is September 30th which must be adhered to. The application of the scholarship received after 30th September, will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Scholarship Amount
The amount of Scholarship will be Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees twelve thousand only) which will be released in two installments of Rs. 6,000/- each. The first installment will be released after sanction of scholarship and the second installment will be released when the student will submit proof of passing class XIth, and admonition to Class XIIth in the office of the Foundation.
