Maharashtra Public Holiday on 15th October 2014

Maharashtra Govt has declared Public Holiday on the 15th of October 2014. Vidhan Sabha Elections will be conducted on 15.10.2014 in Maharashtra for 288 assembly constituencies in the state. Holiday may be applicable to all government offices, private organizations, Banks, educational institutions and other offices. On the eve of elections to the state legislative assembly of Maharashtra, the govt of Maharashtra has declared a Public Holiday on the 15th of October 2014 under the negotiable instrument act. The following is the official notification by the state government of Maharashtra about the holiday.

NEGOTIABLE INSTRUMENTS ACT, 1881. No.PHD.11141C.R.343/20141XXIX.-
In exercise of the powers entrusted to the Government of Maharashtra by the Government of India,
Ministry of Home Affairs vide its Notification No.39/1/68/Judl-III, dated the 8th May 1968 under
section 25 of  the Negotiable Instruments Act,1881 (XXVI of 1881), the Government of Maharashtra
hereby declares as a Public Holiday in the State, on the day of Polling i.e. Wednesday, 15th October
2014 for the General Assembly Elections.
The Departments of Mantralaya are requested to bring these instructions to the notice of the Corporations/Undertakings and Semi-Government bodies under their administrative control and advise them to extend the facility to the employees.

University of Pune has conducted the Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship.
Government of Maharashtra, Higher & Technical Education & Employment Department have nominated the University of Pune as the State Agency for conducting the State Eligibility Test (SET). As per UGC guidelines, after June 2002, SET qualified candidates shall be eligible to apply for the post of lecturer only in the Universities/Colleges belonging to the same state whose SET Examination they have cleared
The Maharashtra SET Examination will consists of Paper-1, Paper-2 and Paper-3. The examination for all the three papers would be held on one day, in two separate sessions.
The SET will be conducted in Objective Mode. The test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on the day of Examination in two separate sessions.
Minimum Marks to be obtained by candidates in SET for the eligibility for Lectureship as follows
General: Paper 1: 40%, Paper 2: 40% and Paper 3: 50%
Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.
